| Children can suffer electrical injuries after placing objects in electrical outlets or electrical appliances or chewing on electrical cords. If your child is still being shocked, you should disconnect the power supply or if necessary, remove your child from the source of electricity with a nonmetallic object that won't conduct electricity, such as a wooden broom stick. Activate emergency medical services if necessary.
Electrical burn injuries are usually more serious than they appear and can cause internal damage, so your child should be seen by a doctor right away, even if the injury seems minor.
