Cooling System by Liebert Corp. Recall |

CPSC, Liebert Corp. Announce Recall of Cooling SystemPRODUCT: Mini-Mate2 Environmental Control Units - Liebert Corp., of Columbus, Ohio, is recalling about 1500 Mini-Mate2 environmental control units, which are used as a cooling system in computer rooms. The recalled units are 277-volts and 1.5, 2 and 3 tons with electric reheat. The units are mounted in the ceiling and u se ducts or special distribution grills to distribute the air. Liebert Corp. sold these units nationwide from January 1998 through August 2000 for between $3,000 and $8,000.PROBLEM: An electric heating element inside the system that is used primarily in the dehumidification process, can short circuit and produce sparks, posing a smoke and fire risk. INCIDENTS/INJURIES: No injuries have been reported. WHAT TO DO: For more information about the recall, contact Liebert Corp. at (800) 543-2778 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday for instructions on disconnecting the reheat assembly. Liebert Corp. will install and replace the heating element. Liebert Corp. sent recall notices to known purchasers. |
