CPSC, Harry and David Announce Recall of Outdoor LanternsPRODUCT: Outdoor Lantern - Harry and David of Medford, Ore., is voluntarily recalling about 280 Outdoor Lanterns. The recalled candle lanterns are approximately 5", 7", and 9" square. They are made of rustproof galvanized steel, lined with glass panels and a hanger at the top. Each lantern has a h older for placing a candle inside the lantern. Harry and David Holiday 2001 Easy Entertaining Catalog offered the product under item #14844U. The lanterns were sold as a set of three, nationwide from September 2001 through November 2001 for about $60.PROBLEM: The solder attaching the hanger at the top of the lantern may melt from the heat of a candle causing the lantern to detach from the hanger posing a fire hazard. INCIDENTS/INJURIES:Harry and David has received one report of the hanger detaching from the lantern. No injuries have been reported. WHAT TO DO: Consumers should stop using the lanterns immediately and contact Harry and David toll free at (800) 547-3033, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for information on how to receive a full refund. Purchasers were sent direct mail notification of this recall. |
