Streaming Video Software

In order to view streaming video clips, you need appropriate software loaded on your computer. While not endorsing any specific product, one that will work is Microsoft's Windows Media Player (since Microsoft's Windows Media Services is used to stream the video). To get it at no charge, go to www.microsoft.com/windows/mediaplayer/en/default.asp and click on the download link.

Please be aware that the quality of streaming video is somewhat diminished, so that in return you can see the video clip almost immediately. However, if your Internet connection is slow (less than 56K), there may be "thinning" of the video during the playback. If you miss a section, you can scroll to the approximate place and replay the stream. You can also try exiting your player and reloading it again from the web site, which sometimes plays a missing section. To minimize "thinning", increase the buffering of your player to the highest setting (for Windows Media Player, go to View, then Settings, then Windows Media Source Filter, and put 30 seconds in for the buffer).
