Would like to know what name (pref. classical) is the most unisex name you know. I have thought of Alex as being girl/boy but others seem to think its more boyish. Is there a name you consider, "hmm, not sure if thats a boy or girl"? Thanks. IP: Logged |

You've opened a subject close to my heart. My name is Jaye and I am female. Because Jay is almost always masculine people almost always assume I'm male when they see my name written. It drives me crazy! So, if you're going to use a unisex name, please use one that is definitely unisex and not one that usually goes one way or the other. Some names that I consider unisex are: Then there are names like Pat, Chris, and Charlie that I think of as unisex nicknames for names that are gender specific such as Patrick or Patricia. It's really none of my business, so you don't have to respond to this, but why would you want an ambiguous name? I can see people using unisex names for non-gender-related reasons (eg, naming Terry after his father or naming a daughter Taryn because it's pretty). However, I don't understand why you want a unisex name for the very reason that it's confusing. It's your business and I'm sure you have your reasons, but it brings a question up in my mind (which, again, you're under no obligation to answer!). IP: Logged |

Ashley - I actually have two guy friends with this name, but they both were teased as kids!! I am also confused as to why you want a confusing name. Aren't you worried about your child being teased? Hope I didn't offend... IP: Logged |
